Overview:

At present, it is the only team with characteristic of laboratory animal and comparative medical research on tuberculosis based on systematic animal model of tuberculosis.

 

Research directions:

Guided by the diagnosis and prevention of tuberculosis, they develop new tuberculosis model and innovative optimized tuberculosis model, conduct basic research on tuberculosis based on the model, and study the precise evaluation system of drugs and vaccines.

Research achievements:

The team has taken the special projects of serious infectious diseases, Ministry of Science and Technology, from "the 11th five-year plan" to "the 13th five-year plan", and more than 13 major projects of National Natural Fund, introduced intelligence project of State Administration Of Foreign Affairs, innovation engineering of Institute, etc.. They have created 24 kinds of systemic tuberculosis animal models(various models from mice to monkey) to cover multi-species and multiple clinical processes for different scope of applications, including multidrug-resistant model, headed by genetically engineered mouse model and so on 5 kinds of model, 3 kinds of vaccine effectiveness and evaluation model for innovative optimization. They use genetically engineered animals of TB studying pathogenic mechanism, and choose accurate tuberculosis animal   models to carry out evaluation and research on drugs and vaccines. On the Frontiers in immunology, Frontiers in microbiology, Infection and immunity and Vaccine, and other journals, they published more than 30 papers. They applied 2 patents, edited 6 works. They won 3 scientific and technology awards of Beijing Ministry of Education and Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences. 18 person-time of specialized talent were cultivated by them. On this basis, the development of laboratory animal sciences and comparative medicine for tuberculosis was promoted.
